Church Plant Media may need access to your domain’s DNS settings to connect your website, configure email authentication, or troubleshoot a domain issue. GoDaddy’s Delegate Access feature lets you grant access without sharing your password.
For one-time assistance, you’ll grant access temporarily and remove it once we confirm the work is complete. Delegate access is not a single-use login, so you’ll need to remove it afterward.
Before you begin
Have the following ready:
- Your GoDaddy account login.
- The Church Plant Media team member’s name and email address provided in your support ticket.
- The domain name we’ll be working on.
These instructions apply when your DNS is managed through GoDaddy. If your domain is registered with GoDaddy but its DNS is hosted elsewhere, we may need access to that provider instead. If you’re unsure, ask our team.
1. Send us an invitation
- Open the GoDaddy Delegate Access page and sign in.
- Under People who can access my account, select Invite to Access.
- Enter the name and email address provided in your Church Plant Media support ticket.
- Choose Domains Only as the access level.
- Select Invite.
GoDaddy will email us an invitation and notify you after we accept it.
Domains Only provides domain-management access without granting access to your other GoDaddy products or permission to make purchases. Domain management includes settings beyond DNS.
2. Let us know you’re ready
Reply to your support ticket with your domain name and confirmation that you sent the invitation. We’ll confirm access and coordinate the requested DNS changes.
Please keep your password and sign-in verification codes private. Our team will use its own GoDaddy login.
If the invitation expires before we accept it, you can send another invitation.
3. Check domain permissions
After we accept the invitation:
- Open your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio.
- Select the Folders icon above your domain list.
- Choose the applicable folder and select Edit Folder.
- For our delegate, enable Management Access and leave Transfer Access turned off.
- Select Save.
Have multiple domains? GoDaddy initially grants domain delegates management access to All Domains. To limit access to your church’s domain, you must also adjust our permissions on All Domains and grant access through a folder containing only the relevant domain.
See GoDaddy’s domain permission instructions, or contact us for help arranging this.
4. Remove our access after the work is complete
Once we confirm that the DNS work is finished:
- Return to the GoDaddy Delegate Access page.
- Under People who can access my account, find our team member’s name and select Edit.
- Select Delete, located beneath the Save button.
This removes our access. It does not delete your domain or undo the DNS changes we made. Leave the completed DNS records in place.
If you need assistance again, you can send a new invitation.
